Too Bad The BP Guys Who Estimated Oil Leak Volume Don't Calibrate Our Local Gas Pumps

BP, when describing the flow rate of escaping oil for purposes of arranging an appropriate response to a disastrous leak, underestimated the volume by approximately 98 percent?

Cynics might associate that incredibly poor calculation with BP's expectation it would be ordered to pay a by-the-barrel fine.

Profit motive appears to trump honesty as well as safety in BP's corporate culture.
