Some Improve Our World, Others Stain It

What is the last thing a cowardly loser does before raining his bitter dysfunction onto innocent women?

He calls his mommy.

Mrs. Sodini appears to be conducting herself with integrity, diminishing the prospect that the heartache inflicted by a coward's bullets would be amplified by the emergence of another Margaret Poplawski.

You don't know what you're talking about. The statement is from the family--maybe the Mom didn't have anything to do with it. And your sneering at him calling his Mom is off base on a couple of levels and mirrors a screwed up societal conception of masculinity, namely, that if you don't grin and bear it alone, and worse, if you turn to someone for help, that you're not much a man or person. The Trib reported that he called his Mom to tell her that he was going on a shooting spree and was probably going to be dead soon. Sounds like he might have been punishing her, rather than turning to her for solace or comfort or because he was scared, as you imply. But if he did call her for those reasons, what's wrong with that? Isn't that what mothers are for? Instead, it appears from the shooter's website that his mother was a cold, tough bitch. Too bad. Maybe if he had gotten some solace and understanding from her at a young age his life would have taken a happier course.

This mother has (so far as I am aware) refrained from spewing delusional, hurtful, cretin-defending statements. That places her several light-years beyond Mrs. Poplawski on any scale or morality or conduct I can envision.

I did not assume this jerk was calling his mother for solace, revenge or anything in between.

I also do not assume anything untoward concerning the mother, particularly not on the evidence of an unhinged loser's description of her.

If he alerted his mother to his venomous intentions, I hope she tried to talk him out of it, suggested he omit the "murdering other people" element of his plan, and promptly informed the authorities.
