It appears city firefighter union leader Joe King was no more successful in pleading for the Great InsolvenCity Parking Garage Sale at council chambers today than have been the other union leaders sent to scare council members -- Council President Darlene Harris, in particular -- during recent months.
Before anyone listens to a word from Mr. King (left) on this subject, he should be compelled to answer this question: Where were the union leaders when the pension fund on which their unions' members rely was being dissipated by politicians (and their cronies) year after year after year? (Other than sucking down the free Ahrns at fundraisers for those politicians and at parties thrown by those cronies, of course.) The evidence indicates Mr. King and his colleagues have failed to protect pension funds for many years; is there any reason to believe they have changed course?

Well, the funny thing is that while he may in fact be the exact wrong guy to deliver the message to the exact wrong people at the exact wrong time, that doesn't exhonerate Council from making an even more wrong decision (whatever decision that may be).
We can all disagree on what the right decision may or may not be, but this one thing is clear: No one, absolutely no one benefits from the City making a bad decision NOW, unless it is the political calculation for some that intentionally not solving the problem is advantageous, in which case I don't know what to say about that.
No one could benefit?
Are you familiar with the placement agent payment, professional fees, sales commissions, consulting contracts and employment opportunities associated with billion-dollar transactions in which one side consists of public officials?
You Are A Dick
Infinonymous customarily avoids identity-related statements, but today is the occasion of an exception:
No one here answers to Richard, Rich, Rick, Richie, Dickie, or Dick.
You consequently are mistaken.

I agree. I take pleasure in disagreeing with you, but I enjoy arguing points with you, and even though I disagree with you in principle, I too think no one should be that tasteless
I watched the whole meeting and I am thrilled with the final vote! The majority did not go weak kneed as I had expected they would. I can only imagine the kind of pressure that the unions and the administration put out there. They play hard ball and dirty. Leave it to Burgess to call them liars (pinnochio) and bullies, neanwhile he's the snakiest of the snakes. As always "victim up" Rev. What promises did you lose out on? No crackhouse money? Is that your best game? Did the Rev have public meetings in his district? I don't think so, yet his claim was that the citizens just don't understand the lease deal. Well I get it and I don't like it! I live in North Oakland and pay to park everyday. The apartment I own charges $60 per month, not to mention all the meters I feed just to go about city living every day. How much parking issues are in your district Rev?. You'd throw us all under the bus for crack houses and clean vacant lots because you don't have a dog in this fight? Think big on the big things and don't sell your soul to Little Lukey for an extra visit from the reddup crew.

Based on his comment, It appears that Anon 4:16 is quite familiar with at least one of these items.
Could it be that Sauromon King has lost his power over council? I am still hoping that the Fellowship of 8 (not counting Burgess of course) can come up with a viable solution but in the meantime I still cannot place any trust in a deal compiled by J.P. Morgan Asset Management and LAZ Parking. Especially any comapny with the name "J.P. Morgan."
And I know I am mixing metaphors/images/fantasies but does this mean that Lukey and/or Zober will find a horse head in their bedroom(s) when they return from China?
Familiarity with the background robs Mr. King of credibility on the pension issue, and a few people ensured that even the newer council members were aware of the background. Don't expect Mr. King to press the issue publicly; he probably prefers to avoid a debate that might incline firefighters to start wondering why their union did not prevent the defunding of their pensions.
