Post some odds, I'm willing to bet we're not headed towards bankruptcy.

(Whether or not we SHOULD be headed there is another issue... ;)

The situation in Harrisburg is the result of repeated cream skimming. As long our council continues to protect our public assets and stiff-arm the skimmers, Pittsburgh will be just fine.

Pittsburgh will be just fine

Where "fine" means not actually collapsing.

TT, are you new here?

No, James. Are you?

TT's a solid veteran commenter. She (always imagined a SHE) makes the mistake that "avoiding creme-skimming" alone will meet Pittsburgh's challenges.

We need several lump monetary sums for our creditors, quickly would be better AND we need significant investment in our infrastructure and human capital.

If that is off the table, we need a radical realignment of society, reaching Wall Street and every union hall, based on a series of consensually agreed precepts.

So no, I think Pittsburgh is going to have to work really hard to live happily ever after.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to read Chris Briem's post, which I've put off...
