Curtis and The City (Or, Canary In A Coal Mine)
The canary's name was Curtis; the coal mine is Pittsburgh.
The boy, confused by the canary's death, and still searching for answers in a situation that seems inexplicable to him, turned to anger.

Do you think it's possible that Ravenstahl feigned going AWOL for most of a day and trumped up a great show of anger over it, in order to draw focus from a death which competent public administration would have prevented? To get on the "right side" of that death, as it were, as compared to his political and media rivals? "Poor beleaguered mayor, overwhelmed but at least he's concerned, unlike those jackals Bill Peduto and Jon Delano?"
I don't doubt they're that opportunistic. I have to doubt they're good at execution, but otherwise yesterday's news doesn't hardly add up at all.
Hmmm...I had pretty much the same thought in the comments here. Can he/Zober possibly be that Machiavellian?
It bears repeating ...
Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.
And especially don't give Luke or Zober credit for being so clever. They're in over their heads is all.
A canary? Pittsburgh is a coal mine? What the hell are you even talking about?
The mayor is doing his job and the city is doing its job. Do you even know him? This Its a tough time. He is the mayor. Deal with it and try show some respect while he is working for the People of Pittsburgh.
I really do believe LR had the plan in place to make the media look bad. And, Mr. Huss, during the press conference might as well have had "sue Pgh" tatooed across his forehead.
There is not enough happening in this town to keep the media busy and they harp on one story endlessly. Actually, there is plenty happening, but nobody wants to explore new ground. The story often involves Luke and Peduto or Luke and Shields or Luke and...
Seriously, the only thing missing was a big "nah-nah-nah-nah-nah." from the mayor after his "you and you and you and you" diatribe.
Ravenstahl can yell at the media all he wants. The fact is he was out of town drinking with the public safety director when the city went into a "state of emergency" He spent the weekend in the condo of a man looking to get funding from the URA and a man died despite his claim that “No matter where you’re at in the city, no matter what your street may look like, if you have an emergency, we will be able to get to it,”
In an attempt to cover his ass, Ravenstahl chose to point fingers at Rich Lord, Jon Delano and Rick Earle. It changed nothing. The facts remain the same.
