Unsolicited Advice Series: Judge R. Stanton Wettick

We hope Judge Tony Wettick (right) recognizes that he -- like the victims of unconstitutionally unfair taxation looking to him for vindication -- has been rope-a-doped by disingenuous and morally bankrupt elected officials for some time.

Dan Onorato and Rich Fitzgerald have relied on delay and chaos for years and, with Judge Wettick's acquiescence, have succeeded. Some observers have suggested that Judge Wettick must choose today between 1) jailing Fitzgerald for the most recent cynical maneuver or 2) rewarding the rope-a-dopers by delaying the delivery of justice for another year (while providing another year for more maneuvering).

We humbly wonder whether Judge Wettick might chart a different course. Why not forbid Allegheny County to collect another dime of taxes based on the unfairly inaccurate assessments? We suspect such a ruling would induce the appropriate public officials to find a prompt and just solution.

What would the line be for Fitzgerald v Wettick? Infinity to 1?

Two things. First, his name isn't Anthony. Second, he's fully aware of everything going on--and he's way too smart to raise to the bait and jail Fitzgerald.

Thanks for the correction. We can't explain the "Tony" turning into "Anthony" under that headline.

Forbidding the county to collect a penny from unfairly regressive assessments would be even better than sending Fitzgerald to a ceremonial jail cell. Better to intensify the chaos, which is what the citizens who elected Onorato and Fitzgerald deserve.

As usual Infi makes more sense that the lot of 'em combined. Can anyone tell where Fitzgerald sees this going in his favor?

One theory is that the County is hoping that Wettick takes over the Office of Property Assessments, thus taking all the elected officials off the hook. "He did it, not us!" Hopefully Wettick is way too smart to do that, too.

or maybe the people voted into office have more common sense than the eggheads and know it alls, so far Dan-O and Fitz have been eating all of the judges lunch all along, they said no reassessment and so far they have been right. ANd getting re elected to boot.
